Our Legal Counsel supports the legal and regulatory aspects of Nearmap within the ANZ region and the broader business where required in other regions where the group operates. You can be a part of the driving force in promoting a strong culture of integrity and help to support the business in its growth acceleration. The Opportunity: Nearmap currently has two exciting opportunities for Legal Counsel positions. One role is tailored for individuals with 2-4 years of legal counsel experience, while the other is suited for those with 4-8 years of experience. We will evaluate candidate suitability for these roles through our internal assessment process. Key Responsibilities: Draft, review, negotiate and provide legal advice on a high volume of external-facing sales contracts, procurement contracts, and government bid documents ranging from standard SaaS licensing terms, complex partnership arrangements through to machine learning licensing. Assist IP issues and IP portfolio (including patents). Work with the global legal team on transformation projects, including changes to pricing and packaging and implementation of contract management systems. Assist in creating compliance programs including policies, training, third party risk management, supplier compliance and providing guidance to stakeholders on regulatory compliance matters across all geographies, business groups and operations. Working alongside other departments within the company where necessary to resolve legal issues and minimise legal risks. Help support information handling and global privacy data needs of the company, particularly working with sales operations, technology, engineering and product teams. Keep informed of regulatory and legal developments affecting the company, its clients, and industries and synthesise the information to incorporate it into company's transactional practices. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders where necessary For the more senior position, other responsibilities include: Draft, review, negotiate and provide legal advice on external-facing third party services and other commercial contracts. Participate with senior lawyers and management to understand Nearmap's business strategies and needs to maximise value. Provide training to the commercial team in understanding the legal position and risk exposure in commercial contracts. Assist in developing internal guidelines, toolkits, and packaged knowledge on various legal and business Collaborate with other departments to increase efficiency of the legal department and the business. Update standard sales terms as needed for new product releases. Advising on cyber and enterprise technology matters, including SOC2 compliance. Attending to legal-related customer support requests and enquiries. Attending to legal-related requests and enquiries from internal stakeholders.
