The Opportunity: Nearmap currently has two exciting opportunities for Legal Counsel positions One role is tailored for individuals with 2-4 years of legal counsel experience, while the other is suited for those with 5-8 years. We will evaluate candidate suitability for these roles through our internal assessment process. Legal Counsel (2 to 4 years’ experience) Are you a legal enthusiast eager to dive into a diverse range of responsibilities? Join us as a Legal Counsel and contribute to our team's success. With 2 to 4 years post-admission experience gained in either a strong private practice firm or in an IT or technology team, this role offers an incredible opportunity to continue your growth and learning within a supportive team while contributing to diverse legal functions. Some of the key responsibilities are: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including SaaS licensing terms, subscriber arrangements and government bid documents. Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders and support global legal transformation projects. Collaborate with various departments to resolve legal issues and minimise risks. Conduct research on key legal and regulatory issues relevant to Nearmap and preparing advice memos. Legal Counsel (5 - 8 years’ experience) Are you ready for more challenges in a fast-paced environment? Nearmap is seeking a Legal Counsel with 5 to 8 years of experience in IT, technology, media, telecommunications, or as an in-house technology lawyer, or with a corporate/commercial law background. This role enables you to leverage your experience to shape our legal strategies and drive innovation at Nearmap. Some of the key responsibilities are: Lead in drafting and negotiating complex contracts, including partnership arrangements, machine learning requirements and third-party services agreements. Manage IP portfolios, provide specialised advice in cybersecurity, and oversee compliance matters. Work with the global legal team on transformation projects, including changes to pricing and packaging and implementation of contract management systems. Collaborate extensively to enhance legal department efficiency and train commercial teams on legal aspects within contracts. Help support information handling and global privacy data needs of the company, particularly working with sales operations, technology, engineering, and product teams.
