Who we're looking for: We are seeking a Senior Mine Design & Planning Engineer to provide internal mining engineering support for studies into the design of future block cave projects across our portfolio of global operations. This role will play an active part in building and sustaining technical and strategic caving capability within Newmont. Key Responsibilities: Technical Accountabilities Undertake all tasks with a high regard to Newmont and JV partners Safety, Risk and Environmental Management systems, policies and procedures and the need to contribute to the continued improvement of safety and cost performance. Carry out mining engineering activities associated with the medium, long term & strategic mine planning of caving projects Evaluate various existing, emerging and new mining technologies that provide uplift opportunities for studies and projects as required Advanced user of Deswik mine design and scheduling software Competent user of PCBC cave production scheduling software, Ventsim and Microsoft Office suite software Contribution to underground Community of Practice Deliver assigned activities within scope, budget and time constraints and to the required technical correctness, accuracy and quality. Completion of Studies documentation to Project Delivery Standards Scheduling Accountabilities Undertake all tasks with a high regard to Newmont and JV partners Safety, Risk and Environmental Management systems, policies and procedures and the need to contribute to the continued improvement of safety and cost performance. Organise work and time allocation to always achieve/exceed Client expectations Work in a well organised and methodical manner Set and meet own work objectives within the objectives of the Mining Studies team Work to meet changes in programmes and scope of work to satisfy Client demands Review competing demands and advise Principal Mine Design & Planning Engineer to allow timely allocation of resources to meet priorities. People Accountabilities Work effectively within a cohesive Mining Studies team committed to delivering high quality, value adding and resilient underground mining solutions. Assist the Principal Mine Design & Planning Engineer to ensure clear articulation of the objectives and goals of the assigned activities. Train and mentor colleagues to develop and enhance their skills and contribute to the building of an effective, value adding Mining Studies team Communicate effectively within the Mining Studies team and to internal and external clients Ensure effectiveness in a multi-cultural team environment and ability to recognise and respond to multi-cultural sensitivities and differences Manage and support any change to objectives or strategy that are dictated through the course of the assigned activities and be able to discern and select appropriate course of action including intervention as appropriate to resolve differing views and opinions You will also possess the following: At least 5 years experience in operational and mining planning roles in large scale cave mining operations and projects Experience in working in a safety focused environment Extensive experience in strategic underground mine optimisation and planning techniques Solid understanding of developments relating to caving Capable of undertaking novel, complex or critical professional work without guidance Our commitment to you Our people bring our organisation to life.
