PRIMARY DETAIL Location: North Ryde, Dharug Land $34.20 per hour (incl. casual loading) 11% super and any applicable penalty rates High-quality sport and aquatic centre on a vibrant university campus close to public transport THE ROLE We are seeking a passionate, reliable, and outgoing Pool Lifeguard to join our Sport Operations Team. Our Pool Lifeguards play a key role in guaranteeing a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for all users of Macquarie University Sport & Aquatic Centre (MUSAC). Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for the safety and supervision of members and guests using our aquatic facilities. You will respond efficiently and effectively to emergencies and customer related incidents, implement aquatic and pool supervision policies and procedures, maintain pool equipment, manage the pool space, maintain a clean working environment, and ensure a positive experience for all members and guests of the facility. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Knowledge and ability to evaluate water conditions to identify any potential hazards, unsafe behaviour, or signs of weak or distressed bathers and determine appropriate action Demonstrated strong verbal communications, and problem-solving skills. Enthusiastic and passionate approach to implementing water safety measures. Ability to maintain aquatic equipment and carry out maintenance tasks. Experience working effectively within a diverse team environment. Demonstrated experience in customer service, with the ability to maintain a respectful and profession manner when dealing with customer enquiries Ability to understand and implement policies and procedures Knowledge of guidelines from the RLSSA GSPO and NSW Swimming Pool and Spa Advisory. Knowledge of the Keep Watch Policy promoting the welfare and safety of children and its implementation in the aquatic environment. This role requires a current Working with Children Check, First Aid, CPR and Pool Lifeguard qualification. All successful candidates must have the rights to work in Australia. All lifeguards are required to complete and submit a Health and Fitness assessment upon commencement and annually. Our facilities include a 6-lane heated indoor pool, and an 8-lane outdoor heated Olympic-sized swimming pool. The centre features a fully equipped health club, group fitness classes, squash courts, gymnastics / aquatics programs and social sports.
