UX/UI Designer Contracted until 30 June 2025 Attractive VPS 5 salary between $106,534 - $128,897 superannuation What does the business unit do? The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria. Technology Solutions and Data Security is delivering the Data and Digital Reform Agenda, which focuses on meeting the department's data and digital needs by providing responsive and sustainable services focused on supporting departmental outcomes. Technology Services and Data Security explores and employs technology to enable the department's business function via the use of modern, appropriate platforms, products and services. It supports enterprise-wide platforms and services including critical applications, networks, telecommunication, call centres, hosting, intranet/internet sites; delivers business and corporate funded project; and overseas the delivering of services provided by technology service providers such as Cenitex. What will the role do? The UX/UI Designer is responsible for the digital user experience design and delivery across digital channels and domains partnering closely with the service design, change, Subject Matter Experts and product leads to develop the experience that will underpin the service and product design. This will ensure alignment with Digital and Customer Experience design principles and standards across delivery and play an active role in supporting the designers in the squads. As a user-experience expert the UX/UI Designer will understand the business requirements and any technical limitations, and translating findings into sitemaps, user flows, wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes keeping the balance of desirability, feasibility and viability in consideration. Key accountabilities include: Design wireframes, prototypes, and visuals that convey the intended user experience and match project goals. Design and refine the visual elements of digital interfaces, including colour schemes, typography, icons, and other graphical assets. Ensure consistency and adherence to What skills and knowledge should a UX/UI Designer have? As our ideal candidate, you will have: Demonstrated expertise as a UI/UX Designer, with a compelling portfolio highlighting a track record of accomplished projects. A firm grasp of user-centric design principles, conducting user research, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis as well as understanding of usability and accessibility standards. Experience in using and establishing UX best practices to design solutions. Expertise in standard UX software such as Figma primarily, Sketch, Invision. Enabling communication and collaboration abilities, enabling the effective presentation and articulation of design concepts and choices. Appropriate vocation qualifications and certifications, e.g., Project Management, Agile, Software, Platforms, Cloud, Service Management or Change Management, are highly desirable.
