Role Description/Criteria At Emmaus we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. The applicant will possess the understandings, skills and ability to implement high expectations for all. Outdoor Discovery is an important program at Emmaus that encompasses many areas of the curriculum. We believe in supporting children to be creative, problem solvers and critical thinkers. Our school is based on respect - respect for ourselves, respect for each other, respect for our environment and respect for our God. The Pope's Laudato Si influences our learning in this area. Outdoor Discovery is a new curriculum area at Emmaus and we are very committed to engaging our students with nature and the outdoors. This subject encompasses many areas of the curriculum. This position will suit someone who is passionate about teaching students more about the world they live in and how to look after it. The applicant would also enjoy working alongside passionate support staff to grow this endeavour together with the children. This applicant would like to teach students from Year 1-6 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The applicant would be required to be flexible and adaptable as the outdoors often demands this. In addition, successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate: commitment to the Catholic Ethos, the principles of Catholic teaching and an ability to live the school's vision commitment to the Emmaus Child Safe Policy and the Staff Code of Conduct commitment to the ongoing professional learning and the continuing development of a positive school culture an ability to communicate positively and effectively with all stakeholders in the school community an understanding of inclusion and the ability to include all a passion for teaching and learning and a willingness to engage, motivate and challenge all learners.
