The Opportunity We're looking for a driven Design Director - Defence to support the General Manager-Defence in establishing and maintaining CPB'S position as a leading and trusted contractor to Defence. Reporting to the General Manager - Defence, your role will include but not limited to the following: Provide strategic direction to Business Units in the development of bid design strategy and support tender preparation Provide strategic direction and support design resource planning for CPB Business Units Review and guide design partner selection in the Defence Precontracts phase Assist in the development of a winning Defence bid through Value Engineering during the Tender Phase Lead development of design delivery schedule for key opportunities Lead design teams for major Defence programs and projects Assist in contract setup for consultant contracts for Defence projects Support GM Defence in development of Defence strategic and annual business plan Display strong leadership and mentor Business Unit and tender teams on Defence Processes Support the development of specialist Defence Design Manager capability in Business Units Build and maintain productive internal and external relationships to facilitate the winning and delivery of Defence business Ensure compliance with relevant Company/Group polices, together with Defence specific legislation. Our minimum requirements for this role are: To be successful in this role the candidate will have the following skills, and experience and demonstrate the below competencies: Bachelor degree in architecture, construction management, engineering or other relevant qualification Minimum 10 years experience in a senior design management position within a large building contractor, consulting or government organisation Relevant Department of Defence or Defence Industry experience at a senior level Experience in developing or contributing to the development and delivery of strategic business plans within a complex organisation Demonstrated experience in sectors related to CPB's business such as construction, engineering and infrastructure Experience in leading multi-disciplined design teams on large and complex projects Strong relationship management and communication skills Demonstrated experience in successful tendering and delivery of large complex projects Demonstrated competency in one or more of aviation, maritime, secure communications facilities, training ranges, logistics, masterplanning or other specialist Defence areas Strong experience in the Defence suite of construction contracts Hold, or have no known impediment to being able to obtain a Defence security clearance Strong problem-sovling skills.
