Gain a Cert in Conservation and Ecosystem Management on a Paid Traineeship Job Description Conservation and Ecosystem Management Traineeships About the role Location : Aitkenvale Contract: Trainees will work (76 hours per fortnight)- 18 week paid traineeship. Envite Environment are seeking to recruit a small team of 8 x trainees interested in a career in natural resource management, bush regeneration, horticulture and conservation to gain on-ground experience through a conservation traineeship. This traineeship is an entry-level role allowing individuals to develop skills and knowledge to prepare for work in the industry. This is a Skilling Queenslanders for Work project, proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government. The traineeship includes; A full time 18 week paid traineeship: Certificate 1 Conservation and Ecosystem Management Certificate - Providing First Aid and CPR Construction Safety White Card, ACDC Chemical Operators Certificate You will gain hands on experience in; Weed management Native seed collection. Community tree plantings. Operating small plant machinery and tools for revegetation works (i.e. brushcutter, auger, mattock, reciprocal saw, etc.). Assist with plant propagation. Maintain, clean and safely store field equipment in its designated location. General maintenance and servicing of tools and equipment. General nursery duties. Trainees will be based at the Envite Depot, Putt Street, Railway Estate. You must have your own reliable transport to and from the depot. This roster is Monday – Friday 7 am – 3 pm. Who can apply? Only long term unemployed, disadvantaged jobseekers or underutilised Queensland workers are eligible to apply as specified under the funding guidelines. No prior experience in or knowledge of revegetation, conservation or use of small plant machinery is required. All training will be provided. Those with an interest in conservation and land management are encouraged to apply so long as you meet the SQW selection criteria below. If you do not meet these criteria, unfortunately you are not eligible and will not progress to an interview. Essential Criteria A reliable means of transport is essential. Are over the age of 15 years. Have accessed Australian Government employment services for more than six months and remain unemployed. Have not previously completed a Certificate I in Conservation and Land Management (or higher). Are not currently a full-time student at TAFE, University or School. An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on a pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen. Disadvantaged job seekers or under-utilised Queensland workers. Desirable qualities- Able to work outdoors in the North Queensland heat and humidity on a daily basis.
