Cafe Attendant/Barista required for new position within our college community. THE POSITION Barista/ Cafe attendants are responsible for opening and closing of the café, taking customer orders, preparing and serving coffees and other food and beverage, processing the payments, restocking and general cleaning of café area. Café attendants are also responsible for preparing and providing F&B services when required. Barista/ Café attendants report directly to the Hospitality Manager for all task direction, problem-solving and co-ordination and ultimately to the Chief Operating Officer. All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church Day school for girls from PP-12. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Daily - Café Service Opening and closing of the Café Taking Orders Preparing and serving beverage orders Processing the payments Cleaning espresso coffee machine Clearing & cleaning tables Meal Preparation Following safe food handling procedures Cleaning- Sweeping and Mopping café service area Maintaining and checking stock Communicating stock requirement to supervisor/manager Ensure customer satisfaction through service Maintain a good relationship with internal and external clients WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY Moreton Bay College is committed to ensuring the health and safety of all students and staff. To this end, all staff need to comply with the following conditions: Proper PPE to be worn at all time while dealing with chemicals or preparing food and beverage. Staff must properly wash their hands regularly, and when finishing work. Clothing - Fully enclosed shoes must be always worn (sandshoes/joggers are suitable). Working from heights - Moreton Bay College has a policy for working from heights which must be followed. This policy stipulates the correct procedures for activities such as use of ladders when cleaning windows and light fittings. Lifting - Staff will be given training on correct lifting procedures and guidelines on weights suitable or not suitable for lifting. SKILLS AND ABILITIES The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Able to follow instructions and directions well Able to work well as a team member Able to work unsupervised Good communication skills Respects and takes pride in the physical environment of the College EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Demonstrated relevant experience in the Coffee making An understanding of the food safety An understanding of the hygiene factors associated with the position Experience in the school environment would be advantageous CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Working with Children Suitability Card, or ability to obtain is essential. Food Safety Certificate is essential. Own licence and transport is required, as the role may work across two campuses, Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys' College. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position requires a high level of physical activity. The tasks involved require the employee to be standing or walking for a significant portion of working hours. The ability to bend, stretch and lift is essential. CONDITIONS AND SALARY Casual position - varied range of hours. May include weekends and after hours Wages and conditions are in accordance with the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement The College contributes superannuation on behalf of the employee.
