The Discipline of Social Work and Social Policy is located in the School and offers a two year postgraduate Master of Social Work, a four year undergraduate Bachelor of Social Work along with Higher Degree by Research option and Graduate Certificates in Child Protection and Mental Health. About the opportunity The Field Education Coordinator/Lecturer will be responsible to the Head of School of Allied Health through the Head of Discipline of Social Work and Social Policy. Field Education is an important part of professional education for students wishing to qualify as social workers. The appointee is responsible for sourcing and securing student field placements for the Master and Bachelor of Social Work. Extensive practice experience and strong networks within the health and human service sectors is important to the success of this role. The appointee will also be motivated to deliver quality teaching and unit coordination in social work. They will also undertake research and obtain research funding, individually or in collaboration, as well as supervising research students and contribute to the academic environment of the School. About you To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate: At least five years social work practice experience in a relevant industry setting. High-level self-management skills with the ability to efficiently work on multiple tasks simultaneously and meet required deadlines. Experience in the supervision of social work students on field placements. Knowledge of and strong networks within the health and human services sectors. Experience in the provision of placements in a tertiary environment including ability to develop appropriate systems and processes. Ability to improve administrative processes and procedures of a social work field education program in line with professional accreditation and University requirements. Evidence of a high level of interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication, and demonstrated ability to relate well to university staff, students and agency staff at all levels. An understanding of theory and practice in an Australian context in relation to social work field education. Knowledge of, and teaching experience in, Social Work in a university environment. A teaching portfolio is recommended evidence of teaching experience. Ability to administer and coordinate academic units and programs in teaching and learning. Familiarity with flexible teaching methods, such as case enhanced learning and e-learning. Capacity to obtain research grants and undertake research. Capacity to write and publish journal articles and other publications. Capacity to undertake supervision of students’ research in a university environment. Management and organisational skills and leadership qualities. Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
