The Chapter Lead – Java Engineering, will be responsible for the overall health of the z.Stream ( provides access to full cycle underwriting including quoting, new business, renewals and endorsements) and related platforms, management of the staff and vendor relationships for these designated platforms. The Chapter Lead is focused on providing technical expertise, steering the chapter’s capability, and “how” work is conducted. The Chapter lead builds a culture of continuous improvement and excellence; recruiting, developing, and evaluating a group of people sharing the same functional skillset, as well as ensuring professional standards are taken out into the squads. In addition to being responsible for supporting their Chapter of Java engineers, the Chapter Lead will also be responsible for driving the z.Stream platform and associated solution’s strategy to ensure successful running of the platform and integration into the wider Zurich landscape. Important to your success - let's grow together Multiple years experience working as a Java Developer and people manager Extensive experience with programming and application design in Java technologies. Experience in financial services or similar regulated industry Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related discipline preferred. Strong understanding of all aspects of the systems/software development life cycle including agile development methodologies Technical knowledge of programming, system design, IT infrastructure and database concepts. Experience in DevOps and CI/CD tools and techniques An appreciation of both IT and business strategy. JIRA and Confluence Proficiency is desirable. Demonstrates Servant Leadership (non hierarchical and collaborative) Champion of Agile mindset and behaviours Solid Technical Leadership understands career paths in crafts and technical toolkits .
