About the Opportunity:We are seeking an enthusiastic EAL/D (English as an Additional Language/Dialect) Teacher for the John Paul International College (JPIC) High School Preparation Course. Reporting to the Deputy Director of John Paul International College and working collaboratively with fellow Teachers, our JPIC Teachers deliver high quality, evidence-based, contextualized and engaging teaching and learning experiences within the framework of the JPIC Curriculum.The role integrates best practice teaching, technology, and innovation to enhance student outcomes, while adapting teaching approaches to meet the individual needs of the students. We pride ourselves on making a difference by enabling our learners to build the English skills and confidence to succeed at John Paul College. This contract position will see the successful candidate have responsibility for planning relevant and engaging learning experiences, demonstrating a high level of knowledge and skill, using appropriate assessment tools, and tracking student progress through the College’s online management system. Applicants must be able to develop inclusive learning environments, inspire and motivate students to commence/continue with their English language studies, foster positive relationships, and to communicate with staff, students, and parents in a timely and respectful manner.About You:A EAL/D (English as an Additional Language/Dialect) Teacher at JPIC is committed to maintaining a spirit and character that is supportive and recognises the worth of each student as an individual in accordance with the College Ethos. As our programs prepare overseas students for success, the ability to demonstrate high quality interpersonal skills and having a comprehensive knowledge of the English language and language learning will be essential. You will be an integral part of the College’s High School Preparation Course (HSPC) and will be responsible for academic welfare, course progress and other requirements of the Education Services for Overseas Students Act.Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role. You will also have: A recognised TESOL qualification, such as CELTA or an EAL/D or TESOL component of a teaching qualification good classroom and behaviour managementa contemporary and research-driven approach to language teaching and learningQueensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.Applicants must be prepared to model and maintain the Christian ecumenical ethos, values and beliefs of the College.
