Posted: 05/12/2023 Closing Date: 10/12/2023 Job Type: Temporary Location: Chisholm Job Category: Education, Childcare & Training St Bede’s Catholic College, Chisholm is seeking a Temporary Part Time (0.6 FTE) Teacher Librarian to join the team in January 2024 for Term 1. St Bede’s Catholic College, in the recently established suburb of Chisholm, is a new co-educational Catholic secondary school that is part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The College opened in 2018 and will eventually cater for 1,100 students in Years 7 to 12. Currently, the College has approximately 800 Year 7-12 students, with the first Year 12 cohort having recently graduated. The key components that drive the development of the school are Courage, Knowledge, Community and Faith. These components align to the four domains of the College’s Strategic Plan – Catholic Formation and Mission, Learning and Teaching, Leadership, Wellbeing and Partnerships. Job Description The role of the Teacher Librarian is to Provide engaging learning experiences for students Manage information and resources Support and drive contemporary teaching and learning ensuring that learning in the library is contemporary, inquiry based, rich in thinking and technology Work in collaboration with the school’s leadership team and with the CSO Digital Innovation and Learning team to act as a catalyst for change and build teacher capacity to improve student outcomes Through the use of resource management time: to manage the library, facilitate and develop the library space and resources, both physical and digital, supported by the School Officer/Library Assistant to collaborate with classroom teachers in developing contemporary teaching to ensure that curriculum is delivered more effectively for the benefit of students. The teacher will promote the school as a place of learning and excellence in accordance with contemporary evidence-based learning and wellbeing principles (including digital learning) and will ensure the ongoing development and implementation of pedagogical practices that impact on student learning outcomes. The teacher will acknowledge and agree to the requirement to work within the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Desired Skills and Experience EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools Demonstrated successful teaching and behaviour management strategies with the ability to plan and evaluate contemporary and innovative learning opportunities in collaboration with teachers Demonstrated ability to share best practice regarding innovative and emerging technologies and information literacy through the KLAs Ability to manage a contemporary library space and oversee library personnel, volunteers and external providers Ability to effectively utilise data to assess and provide feedback and optimise educational outcomes, and source an engaging and relevant physical and virtual collection A sound knowledge of OLIVER OPAC library software (Desirable) QUALIFICATIONS Four-year trained teacher classification with at least five years successful teaching experience Postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Management or Teacher Librarianship or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience: Master of Applied Science (Teacher Librarianship), Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship) or Master of Information Services (Teacher Librarian) or a willingness to enrol and complete within 4 years of employment. Active NESA Accreditation Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number Completion of anaphylaxis training Completion of CPR training CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020.
