Role description: As a Technical Director within the Energy & Resources team, you will take an influential leading role in projects within the Transmission & Distribution sector while leveraging your experience in the T&D sector in the Australian market to drive business growth. Role accountabilities: Civil and Structural leadership and overview for Transmission Overhead and Substation Projects, from concept to final detailed designs Providing technical support to team members; Preparing & Checking / Certifying technical reports, drawings and plans for Transmission Overhead and Substation Projects design Create civil-structural project scopes, estimates, budgets, and chedules for Transmission Overhead and Substation projects Provide oversight and guidance to the team around material and able selection and safety for Design and Constructability reviews; Business development & Sales to prospective clients for large APEX projects; Provide key input and guidance for input of design hours into project bids and experience in assembling large tenders; Building effective and enduring relationships with other teams, offices and external organisations, whilst building a professional profile and reputation, for self and for Arcadis, in the industry; and Maintaining an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the client's business, their drivers, competitors and the industry, to be able to build rapport and establish respect and trust, to enable repeat work with key clients and developing opportunities with new clients. Qualifications & Experience: 15 years' experience working on Transmission Overhead and Substation projects Relevant Mechanical or Civil/Structural engineering degree with chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation; Previous experience in the Australian power industry such as working for an engineering firm or Australian Transmission utility; Proficient in design of steel structures, concrete structures, geotechnical engineering, and foundations Proficient in substation structure design, rigid bus design, foundation design, oil spill containment design, retaining walls, masonry control shelters, and fire-walls Proficient in various foundation types including drilled piers, spread footers, and transformer pads Proficient in Pole top Geometry Design, Conductor and line rating study, Pole Foundation Design, Steel joint design, fabrication details, Construction, maintenance load evaluations and structure Design, Insulator assembly design Knowledge and understanding of civil engineering site development practices such as site planning, grading, excavation, drainage, roadways as related to substations facilities, overhead transmission facilities and right-of-ways. Familiarity with electrical systems and transmission overhead and substation construction. Proficient in civil engineering and structural design of concrete, steel and wood structures and foundations. Relevant line design experience and proficient use of PLS CADD/ PLS POLE A detailed understanding of Line Design Principles and relevant Australian Standards e.g. AS/NZS 3000, AS 7000, AS1170, ASCE 10-15 design standard & AS 3995; Significant consulting experience on projects of significant scale and/or complexity; Demonstrated technical, commercial and delivery acumen; Demonstrated ability to lead a project team, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills; and Excellent communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally.
