High performing, diverse, inclusive, and supportive team Proudly making a difference with the transition to renewable energy Access to corporate discounts, Fitness Passport & flexible working About the opportunity As the Senior Engineer (Emerging Technologies), you'll take the lead role in the assessment and implementation of technically and commercially innovative projects in Transgrid's Network business. Network Support solutions (or non-network solutions) - such as energy storage and demand management, are innovative technologies and services that can help Transgrid deliver transmission services while deferring or replacing the need for traditional poles and wires infrastructure replacement or upgrades. Current projects include the development of a compressed air storage facility and renewable energy minigrid in Broken Hill, partnering with large-scale battery projects to provide grid-support, demand management and innovative system security solutions to support the transition to 100% renewables. You'll be responsible for leading cutting-edge innovation projects including non-network solutions. It involves assessing these projects within the network regulatory framework, establishing technical and commercial feasibility, supporting power system modelling, and interfacing with technology proponents and project partners. Your skills will help support project origination, development, and implementation and you will make creative, technical, and strategic contributions to the Transgrid Network team. About you This role is perfect if you love combining your knowledge of electricity markets, renewable energy and new technologies with engineering problem-solving and strategic decision making. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Economics, Commerce, Science, or another appropriate discipline, or equivalent professional experience. Experience in technical, commercial, or advisory roles relating to electricity markets and infrastructure projects. Experience in assessing project feasibility and investment planning, such as techno-economic analysis, cost-benefit assessment, and risk management. Experience working cross-functionally to achieve outcomes, including influencing stakeholders across a broad range of disciplines and seniority levels, leading project teams and negotiating with counterparties. Excellent written communications skills for persuasive reports and submissions Experience in the legislation, regulatory framework and technical standards relevant to the electricity industry (such as the Regulatory Investment Test framework) is preferred.
