About the role We're currently looking for experienced Technical Services Engineers, Senior Technical Services Engineers, Blasting Technicians and Senior Blasting Technicians to join our Open Cut and Quarry Technical team, supporting customers in WA, SA, and NT. These roles can be based in our Perth or Adelaide offices. We usually work an 8-hour day, Monday to Friday, with the flexibility to work from home on certain days. This role may entail occasional site visits, which could amount to a maximum of 20%, in order to assist with technical projects at customer mine locations. This role's main focus is to provide drill and blast design support, on-bench training of Orica products, deliver advanced technical projects, and ensure product stewardship for our mining and quarry customers. What you will be doing Designing: Develop drill and blast designs to support Mining and Quarry customers; Mentoring: Mentor Orica's operational teams and review their blast designs, loading plans, and initiation designs to ensure safe and efficient blasting operations; Blasting Projects: Managing advanced blasting-related projects on our customer sites by using Orica's full suite of advanced and cutting-edged blasting systems and technologies; Blasting Product Stewardship: Providing advanced-level blasting expertise on Orica's products to our customer teams; Working Together: Forming and nurturing sustainable relationships with our customers technical and operational teams (working as one team); Advanced Blasting Solutions: Working alongside our customer blasting teams to understand complex blasting problems, and applying the correct blasting engineering advice and assistance to deliver outstanding results; Continual Learning and Development: Attending blasting training sessions, seminars, and masterclasses with Orica's global Technical Services communities to hone your own skills and expertise. What you will bring Degree qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline such as geology, civil or mechanical for Technical Services Engineers and Senior Technical Services Engineers; Shotfirer licence in relevant state of application for Blasting Technicians and Senior Blasting Technicians; Cert IV Training and Assessment will be advantageous; Solid technical experience in drill and blast, preferably within varied sites and environments in Open Cut mining or Quarries; Exposure to blast design systems and technologies; Exposure to electronic blasting systems. Orica products will be advantageous; An ability to work autonomously, and to make courageous decisions with Safety being the number one priority; Experience in managing environmental conditions including vibration, fume, dust and noise for neighboring towns and properties; An inquisitive mindset which looks for better ways to deliver value to Orica and our customers.
