What’s so exciting about this role? Hummgroup is on a journey to migrate to the cloud. Currently our databases and systems are predominantly on-premises. The role of Data Service Reliability Engineer is a key role in taking us to the cloud. We are looking for a professional that is excited to roll up their sleeves, deliver infrastructure as code to support and migrate our existing on-premises SQL server to Azure. In addition, this role is embedded within the data team, and is responsible for the development, testing and production of automated infrastructure as code using Azure resources to support the data and analytics teams. What does an average day look like? You will possess: Proven experience in software development especially in cloud native applications. Development skills include DevOps (Azure DevOps, Git, Azure Resource Manager) Scripting skills (Perl , Python, Bash or Powershell) Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code tooling (eg: Terraform and Ansible) Experience supporting data analytics teams using Azure Synapse, ADF, Databricks, Eventhub, AWS. Collaborate with data engineers and architects to design and implement scalable and reliable data infrastructure, including data storage, processing, and retrieval systems. Strong experience with infrastructure and data engineering practices, including: Packaging, provisioning, configuration as code, logging and monitoring Source code management Continuous integration Automation: build, test, and deploy Deep expertise in on-premises and cloud deployments Willing to upskill fellow team members on best practices around Infrastructure as code. Create and maintain documentation for data service infrastructure, processes, and procedures. Share knowledge and best practices with team members and stakeholders. Ensure data services comply with security and privacy regulations and best practices. Implement and maintain appropriate security measures, such as access controls, encryption, and data masking. A continuous learning mindset to learn. Proven experience with Agile development and working with Agile Teams. Who will thrive in this role?
