Job posting end date: 04/30/2024 JOB TITLE Hydraulic Engineer BUSINESS UNIT SVS GBP Project Engineering REPORTS TO Engineering Manager, SVS GBP Engineering York LOCATION Various: York, USA - Sorocaba, Brazil - Perth, Australia We are seeking a Hydraulic Engineer position who will be part of the Global Product Engineering Expert Functions team and provide Hydraulic engineering and technical support to the Metso group for the Grinding, Bulk, and Pyro (GBP) business unit. The Hydraulic Engineer is responsible for the engineering and technical support of the entire line of GBP equipment, analyzing and validating the development of innovative solutions and improvement of existing solutions. The position requires general knowledge of mechanical design, hydraulic design, electrical design, manufacturing processes, component selection and instrumentation of hydraulic systems. It requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize work on several projects simultaneously and present a positive, cooperative demeanor with customers and co-workers. You will report to Ville Jarvenpaa This position is based in YORK, USA What you'll do Prepare hydraulic and mechanical drawings to facilitate fabrication, construction, and installation for equipment or services to refurbish, upgrade, or retrofit existing equipment. Applying hydraulic and mechanical engineering knowledge, principles and best practices to meet customer requirements and specifications. Prepares design ideas and solutions for hydraulic equipment; performs engineering calculations in a timely manner. Reviews drawings, diagrams and bill of materials for accuracy. Perform calculations to ensure safe function of equipment. Provides local and global expertise and support in GBP. This includes design, fabrication, quality assurance, sourcing and troubleshooting. Visit customer offices and plants to determine physical restrictions or limitations. Apply hydraulic and mechanical engineering knowledge, principles, and best practices to meet customer requirements and specifications. Show a commitment to quality, ethics, and safety. Show a commitment to meeting the needs and expectations of both internal and external customers. Observe safety regulations and exhibit a concern for safety. Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Resolves Non-conformance and manufacturing deviation issues. Investigates hydraulic problems and proposes corrective actions and/or repair procedures. Provides technical support to field service representatives. When appropriate, makes recommendations to improve field methods and efficiency. Provides design expertise and solutions to Metso:Outotec sister companies worldwide. Trains and mentors junior engineers and designers. Utilizes computer hardware and software effectively to perform duties. Develops engineering tools (i.e. Excel calculation sheets -specifically design worksheets, PowerPoint presentations, etc). Works on research and development projects. Participates in training seminars (internal and external). Performs other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor Providing input to facilitate process improvement. Traveling (both domestically and internationally) may be required as needed. Who you are Engineering degree or equivalent experience Design experience in hydraulic engineering for the Mining and Mineral processes or similar heavy industry equipment Advanced hydraulic and multi-physique simulation experience is a plus. Electrical system experience is a plus Strong experience using 2D and 3D software's Experienced in Autodesk Inventor and Vault software's are preferred Experience using AutoCad Mechanical is preferred Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office Products Capability to make decisions independently while working as part of a team Capability to work in structured manner even under pressure Good communication skills, fluent in English, spoken and written. Theoretical and practical background in Hydraulic and Mechanical Engineering design principles and machine design Flexible and willing to travel to customer sites. Ability to read and understand Hydraulic diagrams and mechanical drawings in the English and Metric and Imperial System. Adequate computer skills, capable of working with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail. Must be able to read and interpret Engineering drawings and possess a strong mechanical aptitude. This position requires infrequent domestic and international travel. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have all physical capabilities such as walking, sitting, proper vision, hearing, speaking, and sense of smell. Ability to work in a variety of environments, which may include exposure to cold, heat, and humidity. Possess the stamina to work long hours during emergency breakdowns and peak periods.
