Reporting to the Engineering Manager for the Sydney Ring Project as the Design Manager you will be using your skills to deliver robust and efficient designs in partnership with our design consultants relating to substation developments as well as transmission lines. You will be involved in the development of standards in accordance with project objectives and stakeholder requirements while managing Design Consultants to ensure the design deliverables prepared by the consultants meet the brief through the review of the designs and design outputs. As the subject matter expert, you will provide specialist advice and be an integral member of the Sydney Ring project team approving designs and providing design reporting. With your exceptional stakeholder management skills, you will build strong partnerships across the organisation and build credibility quickly ensuring the best outcomes for the project. The Project The Sydney Ring project increases the power system's capability to supply the Sydney, Newcastle, and Wollongong centres through renewable energy, replacing supply capacity that will be lost on the closure of coal-fired power stations in the Newcastle area. It involves both a northern and southern 500kV option, the northern option being Bayswater to Eraring substations and the southern being Bannaby to Sydney West substations. When both options are delivered, this will secure the supply to Australia's most populous geographic area. About you Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering or other discipline relevant to the project scope. Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team of indirect reports such as internal designers, external consultants, and contract designers. Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholders. Experience in substations high voltage primary and secondary design. Experience in transmission line design. Practical experience in design and construction and be able to support the site construction team including but not limited to, site visits, document support, contractor support, coordination of plans, site safety and implementation of standardisation and quality control. Engaging with and supporting other project related streams in achieving the project deliverables through all design phases. Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities in design deliverables in relation to the overall project schedule. Practical experience in design and construction. Extensive knowledge of appropriate Australian and International Standards and Codes of Practice relevant to the substations primary design. Extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures applicable to the preparation of designs and specifications. Proficient in the use of engineering business systems such as EDMS and other design software to develop designs. Working knowledge of Design Control quality assurance processes to ensure that designs meet quality requirements. Ability to use Microsoft Office. What's in it for you?
