About the Role: As Lead Civil Engineer, you will plan, develop, coordinate, review and develop engineering work on studies and/or projects. You will be required to apply broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to project engineering, making decisions independently concerning problems within the discipline on a study / project. Your duties will include: prepare / oversee the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly. review and approve key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries, including field and design documents relating to the discipline. coordinate assigned engineering work with other project groups, communicating complex technical issues and solutions to upper management. preparation of trade-off and study reports. manage Civil engineering subconsultants. supervise the day-to-day technical work and provides technical direction to discipline engineering supervisors, engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters. coordinate with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work. maintains contacts with suppliers, appropriate field personnel and other disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project or assignment and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements. other duties as required. What You Bring: a recognized degree in civil engineering. experience in leading civil design activities and interfacing within a broader multiple discipline project team. demonstrated report writing skills. in depth knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures and codes relevant to civil discipline. knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers in the discipline. knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods. knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines. knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved; broad knowledge of industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the particular discipline. knowledge of application and coordination of 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools on a project. skill in oral and written communication. demonstrated skill in leadership and supervisory experience. demonstrated technical capabilities in front end engineering studies preferred.
