The NBM Safeguards Team is a new dedicated Child, Youth & Family Mental Health (CYF-MH) resource designed to provide innovative and best practice care to children and adolescents aged 0-17 years experiencing acute mental health distress.   The team is community based and provides rapid, mobile and flexible care to resolve mental health crises, including assertive outreach, care coordination and time-limited therapeutic interventions.   The Safeguards Team will operate 7 days/week with extended hours on weekdays, and will respond to young people in their schools, homes and communities and in hospital-based settings, through face to face, phone and telehealth appointments. The Senior Social Worker will work in a multidisciplinary team and report to the NBM Safeguards Clinical Lead.  They will apply their in-depth levels of clinical expertise and extensive specialised knowledge to plan, co-ordinate and implement evidence based, trauma informed and developmentally appropriate assessment and treatment to children and adolescents and their families. Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.   Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.   Selection Criteria to be Addressed : Recognised tertiary qualifications in social work and eligibility for membership of AASW. Extensive post graduate clinical experience providing evidence-based assessment and treatment for children and/or adolescents and their families. Ability to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently to accomplish service goals and improved consumer care and outcomes. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff. Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of mental health care practice, as well as demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application when working with children/adolescents and families/carers.
