ABOUT THE ROLE Liverpool City Council (Council) is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced, and skilled Coordinator Civil Engineering Design and Survey. The purpose of the position is to lead and supervise a team of specialist Civil Design Engineers and Engineering Surveyors, to provide professional and high-quality services, to enable and support the delivery of infrastructure across the Liverpool LGA. Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to) overseeing the following activities: 1. Leading and supervising staff members within the team, and overseeing their day-to-day work; 2. Liaising with relevant internal / external stakeholders and the community, as required; 3. Preparing topographical surveys to enable the design and construction of various infrastructure projects; 4. Undertaking engineering related investigations, to inform planning and design decisions; 5. Preparing concept and detailed design packages and other relevant documentation, for civil engineering projects including (but not limited to) new / improvements to; roads, streets, laneways, traffic facilities, drainage, and at-grade carparks; 6. Developing and maintaining technical standards and guidelines, relevant to the team’s functions and work activities; 7. Providing technical civil engineering advice and input, into projects being completed by other teams within Council, the NSW Government, and/or other organisations; 8. Providing technical assistance to teams managing the delivery of projects that have been designed by the Civil Engineering and Survey team; 9. Representing the team, including through attending (and presenting at) inter-departmental meetings, governance / community committee meetings, and workshops, as required; and 10. Providing technical input to assist with the preparation of grant funding applications, for relevant infrastructure projects. ABOUT YOU To be successful in the role, you should possess the following: Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, or a relevant discipline; Chartered Professional Engineering (CEng) accreditation, from Engineers Australia; Experience in leading and supervising staff (preferably Civil Engineers and/or Engineering Surveyors); Experience leading civil engineering design projects (including road and drainage projects); Attention to detail and a desire to deliver work to a high standard; Understanding of legislation and industry standards relevant to the team’s function and remit of work; Skills in project management, with the ability to successfully manage a complex and dynamic workload; Emotional intelligence, and exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills; A high level of written and verbal communication skills; Confidence in presenting work, and liaising and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders; and Adaptability, resilience, decisiveness, with the ability to motivate staff and efficiently and effectively problem solve, to achieve results.
