We are looking for a Principal Lawyer to join NSW Public Service Commission?s Legal branch. Classification Grade: Legal Officer Grade VI O ngoing full-time employmen t (35 hours per week) Attractive remuneration package up to $170,251 . The Public Service Commission (PSC) has a leading role in promoting and maintaining the ethical framework for the NSW government sector and leading the strategic development and management of the government sector workforce . The NSW Public Service Commission?s Legal team provides independent legal advice and services to support the Public Service Commissioner?s functions and the PSC?s governance and operations as a NSW Public Service agency . Our team compris e s PSC?s General Counsel, two Principal Lawyers (including this role), two Senior Lawyers and an Executive Assistant. About the role Reporting to the General Counsel, you will be responsible for timely , high quality legal advice and assistance to the Commissioner and the PSC across the full range of legal work handled by PSC Legal Services Branch. A primary focus of this Principal Lawyer role is to provide and supervise/manage the provision of legal services in relation to : commercial and contractual law related legal work, including advice and transaction support for procurement and other contractual matters. privacy and intellectual property related legal work in relation to the PSC?s operations and programs of work. PSC internal governance, policy and compliance work, particularly concerning government sector finance, intellectual property, privacy and other government law/commercial law issues. About you You will be a senior lawyer with experience in commercial law, government procurement, intellectual property law, administrative law, statutory interpretation, and/or employment law . You will have experience providing complex legal advice /services at a senior level in a fast paced environment with competing deadlines . You will have excellent written and oral communication skills . You will have well developed organisational and stakeholder management skills . You are able to demonstrate that you meet the capabilities listed in the Role Description . You must meet the following essential requirements: Law degree from an accredited law school or completion of the Legal Practitioners Admission Board?s Diploma in Law Course. Admission or eligibility for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW. C urrent legal practising certificate enabl ing supervision of legal practice in NSW.
