Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join one of Australia's most advanced internet security startups. They’ve recently received over $25m in funding and have a extremely viable business model that has given them a mandate to tackle ever present internet security threats. This is a permanent, full time role based in Sydney where you’ll have a flexible, hybrid working arrangement (2 – 3 days in the CBD office). You’ll be instrumental to the data engineering function (there’s only 20 people in the entire tech team with only one other Data specialist), where you will design, deploy and implement advanced data solutions which will help solve some of the most complex problems for both the business and their customers. Working in a multidisciplinary team, you’ll work with Software Engineers, DevOps Specialists, QA Engineers, and Cyber Security experts. You’ll be key in developing data pipelines to solve business problems whilst helping pioneer new tech and approaches to improve data related applications. Being an early stage startup, you’ll be comfortable working in a fast moving and dynamic work environment where you’ll be taking on primary ownership of the data engineering function. If you have at least 8 year's of experience as a data engineer, developing and deploying pipelines, with an understanding of training and deploying in the cloud, you’ll hit the ground running. A solid understanding of Python is a necessity along with strong database skills (preferably NoSQL databases). The team is using the AWS ecosystem, so candidates with an advanced knowledge of AWS’ suite of products will be given preference. Prior experience working in SME sized product development companies or startups where there’s been an end-to-end exposure to the entire Data Engineering function Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering or similar At least 8 years of commercial experience as a data engineer (this is a Senior role where you’ll own the data engineering function) Experienced building data pipelines Python AWS experience (we’ll consider outstanding experience candidates that have worked with the Azure and GCP ecosystem if they’re willing to switch to AWS) SQL or NoSQL (they’ll be going down the NoSQL route) As a Senior in the team, you'll be expected to use your experience to help shape the Data Engineering posture on several projects that are new or less than two years old.
