This is a key contract for local council, seeking an experienced water and flood engineer. Hybrid working, free parking, excellent hourly rate. Collar Group is seeking a highly skilled Water Engineering Consultant for a temporary 8-month appointment, with this high-growth NSW council. Join us in this exciting opportunity to contribute to floodplain management and water engineering projects in a fast-developing local government area. The role offers a hybrid working environment, free parking on-site, and a 35-hour working week, providing a flexible and accommodating work setup. Requirements: Demonstrated expertise in water engineering, with a strong background in floodplain management, including the ability to undertake Flood Studies and Flood Risk Management Studies and Plans in compliance with NSW Flood Policy. Proficiency in reviewing flood models, interpreting TUFLOW results, and assessing flood reports. Familiarity with Water Cycle Management Flood Models, large planning proposals at precinct level, fluency in WaterRIDE, and practical knowledge of QGIS for analyzing TUFLOW results. Experience in assessing and reviewing hydrology models and reports is essential, and floodplain management experience is highly valued. Beneficial to have: Master's degree in Water Engineering, including expertise in Hydrology and Hydraulics, to understand the fundamental principles of floodplain management and flood modeling. Key Tasks: Lead short-term floodplain management projects, including investigation and design projects related to Flood Warning, from preparing technical briefs to project completion. Collaborate with the floodplain management team on various core activities, such as providing flood information to internal and external stakeholders, reviewing Flood Impact and Risk Assessment reports for development applications, planning proposals, and enhancing flood mapping.
