About the Business Unit Located across the North West Metropolitan Area are 13 non-custodial locations in Carlton, Broadmeadows, Coolaroo, Tullamarine, South Morang, Derrimut, Reservoir, Heidelberg, Melton, Sunshine, Werribee, Laverton and the Neighbourhood Justice Centre in Collingwood. There are four custodial locations: maximum security prisons Metropolitan Remand Centre, Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC) and Melbourne Assessment Prison and the minimum security Judy Lazarus Transition Centre. The DPFC is a 568 bed medium to maximum-security facility for female offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice. The DPFC is dedicated to supporting prisoners with mental health, cognitive impairment, physical disabilities and complex needs. About the Role At the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC), each Justice Officer role specialises in one of four streams – Records/Property, Human Resources, Finance/Stores/Canteen and Administration. Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison. In a Justice Service environment, a Justice Officer provides a combination of reception and concierge functions, and administrative and business support services. In the context of a prison, the Justice Officer provides a range of corporate support services (as specified), within the unique operational environment of a correctional facility. In either context, the role requires a strong focus on customer service, teamwork, integrity, accuracy, compliance and timeliness. This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Agreement 2020. Some of your duties may include: As part of the Finance and Administration Team, and under direction and supervision, provide high quality financial, procurement, administration services, in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, other government regulations and guidelines and DPFC local operating procedures Undertake all procurement functions in line with relevant legislative and organisational requirements Monitor and liaise with customers, administrators, and prison staff on relevant issues. Under direction, collect statistical information, analyse, prepare reports, obtain quotes and prepare estimates for works and services. About You As our ideal candidate for this role, you will be able to demonstrate: Well-developed computer literacy. Good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations. Experience with Oracle or similar finance related system is desirable.
