About the Role: As Design Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing activities and have technical accountability for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating the engineering work. You will work within an integrated client project management team and be accountable for the timely delivery of the design work packages developed by 3rd party engineering consultants and/or design and construct contractors. You will report to the assigned Package Manager and ensure the designers deliver to the Project schedule. You will: direct and provide technical and administrative guidance to assigned Package, discipline and consultant engineers in the management of engineering on the project. keep informed on the status of all project issues with respect to schedule, budget, work quality and client satisfaction and contributes leadership, experience and expertise in the solution of difficult problems. report to the Package Manager and Project Engineering Manager on design performance on cost, progress, performance, risk and technical issues. work closely with the client team and stakeholders. champion the creation of a work environment, helped by leadership, fostering openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction on the project or program. What You Bring: degree in engineering or architecture, specialized courses in relevant engineering, or appropriate discipline. minimum of 10 years of practical work experience in design engineering or relevant equivalent experience. strong aviation industry experience, experience in Australia preferred. experience managing design efforts including management of 3rd party designers or engineers broad knowledge of aviation industry/regulatory codes and standards, project controls and design criteria in all engineering disciplines. technical knowledge of : engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and materials and applications of building information modelling, 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) to engineering problems.
