Discover what's possible with us Newcrest is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Contracts Administrator to oversee all aspects of contract administration for the planning and execution of the Cadia Integrated Tailings Project - a significant portfolio program of civil works execution; to safely deliver a major upgrade of the Tailings Dam for Australia's largest gold mine at Cadia. This is a 12-month fixed term position with the preferred point of hire in Melbourne with periodic travel to our Cadia Valley Operations site located in Central Western New South Wales. Who we're looking for The Contracts Officer shall provide support and facilitate the processing of contracts for the Life of Mine Tailings (LOMT) Project. The role will support the management of contracts for field works (e.g. bulk earthworks, drilling etc), consultant engagement, and civil construction, from conception to completion. You will work closely with project managers, cost controller, contract and procurement lead, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all parties involved. Key responsibilities include but not limited to: Assist in the preparation of contracts, purchase orders, change orders, claims, and other contract modifications in conjunction with stakeholders Administer contracts, including preparing, reviewing, and analysing contract documents to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, laws, and regulations Notify and work with project team to ensure contractors are in compliance with their contractual, legal and regulatory obligations Ensure project development is undertaken in accordance with Newcrest Gold Book and Project Management Systems, (PMS) requirements - including reporting Identify and mitigate contract risks and issues through the development and implementation of effective risk management strategies Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other professionals to ensure project requirements are met. Participate in project status meetings and provide regular reports on contract status and progress Review contractor payment claims and invoices to ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions Continuously improve and streamline contract management processes to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity Manage and maintain correspondence with the contractors via Aconex Ensure work is conducted using the appropriate risk assessment and risk management strategy in accordance with safety standards, frameworks and that behaviours are aligned to a culture of minimizing employee and community environmental risk Ensure all projects are managed and implemented safely, consistent with practices to ensure absolute compliance to all regulations, laws, policies, procedures & standards You will also possess the following: Significant demonstrable experience in engineering and civil construction contract administration, with a focus on large-scale civil / infrastructure projects Knowledge of contract law and regulations related to civil / infrastructure construction Proven track record of successful administration, and management of contracts Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills Proficiency in software used in managing projects, including Microsoft Office Excel, Work and PowerPoint applications and other relevant tools and technologies. SAP skills are beneficial Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential roadblocks and develop strategies to mitigate risks and keep projects on track Self-managed, motivated, and committed to working as part of a team in a fast-paced dynamic environment Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Contract Law / Business Administration / Supply Chain Management (or related field) highly advantageous Our commitment to you Our people bring our organisation to life.
