Discover what's possible with us Newcrest is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Engineer to manage the project development back-end and details beyond the feasibility study; will also serve as link between design and facilities available on site to ensure effective execution of the Construction Enabling Package to support the implementation of the Cadia Life of Mine Tailings (STSFX) Project. - a significant portfolio program of civil works execution; to safely deliver a major upgrade of the Tailings Dam for Australia's largest gold mine at Cadia. This is a 12-month fixed term position with flexible work locations available: Melbourne, Orange NSW or Brisbane (remote working), with regular travel to our Melbourne office and our Cadia Valley Operations site located in Central Western New South Wales. Operations near and far Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Residential employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area's occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks. Who we're looking for The Project Engineer will work with the Project Manager and project team members to ensure effective execution of the Construction Enabling Package to support the implementation of the Cadia Life of Mine Tailings (STSFX) Project. Key responsibilities include but not limited to: Identify, develop and manage the Construction Enabling activities to support the effective implementation of the Project. Construction Enabling scope includes all packages required for a large infrastructure and civil construction project such as quarry and borrow establishment, fuel, water, temporary facilities and utilities. Contribute to weekly and monthly reports in accordance with the Project Delivery Group standards. Conducts comprehensive engineering planning, design and operational studies of the various project studies. Initiate and participate in design and risk workshops as required. Co-ordinate and facilitate all resources required from Newcrest to achieve the desired deliverables. Make presentations to staff, management, and external stakeholders. Develop a construction enabling plan (Package Management). Deliver scope of work, technical evaluations for work packages and contribute to invitation to tender documents and process. Establish and manage a project responsibilities matrix for the Construction Enabling works between Newcrest, consultants, and contractors. Engage contractors throughout project execution to ensure project delivery meets requirements, is on budget, and executed to plan. Ensure work is conducted using the appropriate risk assessment and risk management strategy in accordance with safety standards, frameworks and that behaviours are aligned to a culture of minimizing employee and community environmental risk. Ensure all projects are managed and implemented safely, consistent with practices to ensure absolute compliance to all regulations, laws, policies, procedures & standards. Ensures zero tolerance for non-compliance. You will also possess the following: Recognised bachelor's degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline), with significant project engineering / project management experience in the delivery of large packages of work for mining projects Demonstrated Owner's experience in management of contractors and requirements to support execution for civil / infrastructure construction Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify potential roadblocks and develop strategies to mitigate risks and keep projects on track. Self-managed, motivated, and committed to working as part of a team in a fast-paced dynamic environment. Background in either civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or construction management.
