Our Client is renowned for delivering top-tier legal services to a diverse cross-section of the community. With offices in Ipswich, Toowoomba, Roma, and Goondiwindi, they are currently seeking a dedicated, full-time (38 hours per week), Legal Intake Officer to join their team in either their Toowoomba or Ipswich Office. This is a 6-month contract, however there is a strong possibility it may lead to a permanent position. In this client-facing role, you will be the initial point of contact for individuals seeking assistance, making your client-centred approach and commitment to delivering high-quality services to vulnerable people indispensable. You will be responsible for providing information about the organisation's services and programs, gathering essential information from clients, and assisting them in understanding their legal issues and rights. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Provide accessible, responsive and effective intake services through telephone and face-to-face services that ensure clients are able to engage effectively and that their legal and support needs are identified, prioritised and actioned appropriately (triaged). Evaluate client’s circumstances for need to expedite service delivery and ensure urgent referral action is implemented when required. Undertake conflict of interest checks. Under direction of the Legal Intake and Education Coordinator, assist lawyers. Draft legal documents/correspondence. Handle confidential information professionally and consistent with legal and ethical policies. Compliance with all company policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements Skills, Experience and Behaviours: Experience and practical knowledge of law and procedure gained from experience in a legal environment. High level legal diagnostic and problem-solving skills to accurately assess and address client needs. High level of attention to detail and accuracy. Exceptional organisational, time management, and administrative skills are essential. Demonstrate awareness of confidentiality and privacy issues concerning legal service clients. Proficiency in IT, including a proven ability to use Microsoft Office and data recording and reporting systems (CLASS), is required. Eligibility to obtain a Yellow Card from Disability Services Queensland and satisfactory completion of a National Police Records Check are prerequisites. The ability to maintain empathy and understanding for clients while preserving emotional resilience is important. The following items are desirable to work in this position • Hold or be immediately eligible to obtain a Yellow Card from Disability Services Queensland and satisfactorily complete a National Police Records Check. • A relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor of Laws) OR • Substantial progress towards such a qualification (Preferred, not essential).
