About The Role As an Application Developer at Thiess, you will play a pivotal role in our Autonomy & Operations Technology division. Working closely with the Manager of Mine Operation Systems, you will be responsible for analysing, designing, developing, and testing software solutions that support our mining operations. Your work will directly influence the efficiency and effectiveness of our mining technologies, contributing to Thiess' success in the global mining industry. Key responsibilities include: Maintain and modify existing software, perform quality control and reviews on software changes, organise testing to ensure quality, and deploy new or modified software. Ensure all systems and applications are available when required and performing as expected. Provide technical advice and support to internal/external staff when needed. Stay updated with industry developments, identify appropriate technologies and new initiatives, and make recommendations to management on adopting new technologies. Foster a culture of continual improvement and innovation within the team. Report on project activities, operational tasks, and support issues to relay information to management. Provide support and advice to team members and ensure that business requirements are considered in all planning activities. Work towards financial goals and follow business processes relevant to your work. Demonstrate a broad understanding of Thiess' functional structure and commercial interests. About You Our ideal candidate for this position possesses a strong foundation in Information Technology or a related field, such as Software Engineering or Computer Science, backed by tertiary qualifications. With a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in the realm of software development, they bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. They have demonstrated their ability to operate and design enterprise-level applications and systems, providing leadership on software projects with a keen sense of responsibility for overall delivery. Their proficiency extends to modern web and database development, complemented by a deep familiarity with cloud-based technologies and incident management tools. This candidate thrives in structured development environments and utilises tracking tools effectively, showcasing robust debugging skills and proficient software testing capabilities. Furthermore, the candidate possesses an impressive array of technical skills that make them a standout choice for our team. Their extensive experience is complemented by their expertise in architecting software and creating technical solutions tailored to the demands of complex projects. They are well-versed in source code control, code review workflows, and various software versioning models, ensuring the seamless progression of development initiatives. Moreover, they are diligent in writing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, underscoring their dedication to transparent and efficient project management. With a solid foundation in common programming technologies and a mastery of Microsoft SQL Server development, this candidate is well-prepared to address a wide spectrum of technical challenges. Their familiarity with the Microsoft Azure stack and related services and technologies further positions them as a valuable asset for contemporary software development endeavours.
