This role is an entry level software engineering role within the Leica Biosystems Melbourne R&D Software Engineering group which enhances and sustains medical device products. The Associate Software Engineer is a Scrum team member working with other team members to develop and release new features for our BOND IHC & ISH staining platform. Key responsibilities: - Participate in all Scrum events to effectively transform the product backlog into working product increments. - Work with stakeholders, subject matter experts and the product owner to understand the product, domain, and tools. - Participate in design activities - Code and test new features - Perform code reviews - Write unit and other automated tests - Maintain and configure your development environment - Investigate and fix software anomalies (defects) - Author and review software engineering documentation, including specifications, design documents, release documents, plans, etc. - Understand and adhere to Leica Biosystems Quality Management System procedures. - Proactively participate in continuous improvement activities. Selection Criteria Essential: - No prior industry experience required. - Graduate or post-graduate qualifications in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or equivalent qualification) - A solid understanding of the software development life cycle - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, ensuring you can clearly articulate your ideas, while actively listening and understanding others perspectives. - Demonstrated team player who thrives working collaboratively. - Willingness to take on any task and learn the skills and capabilities required. - Committed to your own development to grow and expand your skillset. Highly Desirable: - Programming experience with C# .Net, Python, and/or Javascript - Expertise in Mechatronics, Robotics, and/or Electronics - Confidence working in both Windows and Linux Travel: work days per annum None Location: This is a predominantly onsite role with a minimum of 4 days per week onsite (Mon, Tue, Wed and Thu) at our office at 495 Blackburn Road Mount Waverley VIC 3149 Australia. You may work from home on Fridays.
