Your Mission As we grow, new challenges emerge daily. We're looking for a Legal Counsel to play a crucial role in providing legal guidance and support to Propeller on a global scale. You'll be at the center of our business operations, identifying, managing and mitigating legal risks. Your mission will be to partner closely with our cross-functional teams, ensuring that our groundbreaking innovations comply with applicable laws and regulations, without slowing us down. Responsibilities: Develop bespoke contracts. Review and negotiate commercial agreements including supplier arrangements, customer contracts (with customers in Australia, USA, and Europe), vendor agreements and intellectual property law arrangements Manage and advise on compliance with Privacy and GDPR frameworks, and oversee ESG reporting Understand, interpret and apply current laws to Propeller's global workforce Stay vigilant and attuned to the evolving legal landscape. Keep your finger on the pulse of changing laws and swiftly implement strategies to mitigate potential risks Anticipate and develop proactive strategies to address changes in regulatory requirements and policies Handle or oversee legal disputes, including potential litigation or alternative dispute resolution Essential skills and experience Degree in Law Minimum 4-6 years experience PQE You must hold a current practicing certificate Confident in making judgment calls in ambiguous situations Strong corporate and commercial legal experience in high value complex transactions You enjoy working with people and thrive in an environment where you're problem solving as a team Able to interpret international law and make a judgment call when necessary Experience in GDPR including its principles, key provisions, and its impact on data protection and privacy Bonus points for experience in: Working in a global company with legal teams and partners based in different jurisdictions Venture capital fundraising Drafting and negotiating cross border contracts Supporting a board of directors - governance, secretariat etc. Benefits Employee share options Backed by one of Australia's leading venture capitalists, Blackbird Professional development budget and leave The opportunity to take part in our mentorship program Mental health resources Monthly telephone and/or internet allowance Paid primary & secondary parental leave policies Hybrid work arrangements and WFH equipment provided
