Want to join the ride? Wartsila's Energy Business is looking for a Sales Engineering Manager, MEA for the Energy Storage & Optimization (ES&O) business. This role will be part of the growing Project Delivery team in middle east, south-east Asea and Australia region and will report to the GM, Global Proposal Management. Location for this position is Sydney, Australia. Qualified candidates ought to be legally authorized to work in the country, without sponsorship. Main Responsibilities: Manage and lead a team of technical sales proposal engineers in the Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia and Australasia regions Subject matter expert for Energy Storage in Asia and Australia pacific regions including expertise in the engineering design of energy storage systems, construction management, sizing and cost estimation to support the ES&O Energy Storage System (ESS) solution sales and business development activities Support the Wartsila Energy's Sales Management and Sales teams to help defining opportunity fit & potential, as well as on proposals and solutions to customers. Engage in key customers/accounts activities (RFP/RFI, contract reviews, technical solution support) within the area region, support and maintain relationships relative to energy storage Work closely with internal engineering (electrical, civil, mechanical, software, controls, validation), product management/application engineering, services, procurement/supply chain and project management to support project development in the sales stage Secure from the customer's technical staff the commitments needed to ensure contract deal's close (commercial, technical, long term services agreements) Manage RFP/RFQ response process including determining bidding strategy, partner selection and collaborating with such partners to draft and submit winning responses and proposal document package Establish the Equipment/EPC project estimation process. Work with Project Management to develop accurate and relevant construction schedule, scope and cost estimate budget for the energy storage proposal Lead regional EPC strategy the AREA's Project Sales including establishment of EPC partner(s) or subcontractor relationship, develop the best solution and competitive offer, identify cost reduction and efficient improvement initiatives Participate site visits, customer, EPC partner and vendor meetings when required Support proposal sales processes and initiatives development, and provide trainings to internal ES&O functional teams, sales and sales management to ensure transparency and supports required Qualification & Experience: Minimum BSc or MSc degree in electrical engineering / power engineering Minimum 5 years of utility scale ESS (technical and commercial) experience in energy storage and renewable energy markets, power systems engineering, or similar projects and products (such as bi-directional inverters, dc/dc converter, various battery chemistries, solar, wind turbines, hybrid solution), particularly in Australia and Asia Pacific region. Other skills: Strong understanding of utility generation project development process Strong written, oral and presentation skills. Must be a proven and competent English writer, able to create grammatically correct and properly structured English proposal documents and contents. Competent with ACAD or equivalent drafting tools Proficient with Microsoft Office products and SolidWorks Capable of read and draft electrical drawings Understanding of CE, UL, IEEE, IEC and NEC standards as applicable to the local region. Knowledgeable in local utility systems and interconnection requirements for electric generators. Medium-voltage system design and construction background is desirable Passion for innovation, ability to adapt to fasting changing market demands, working independently and as a team member Willingness to take ownership and produce results Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced work environment with tight deadlines Excellent teamwork skills working in a matrixed organization with cross-functional, diverse, and multi-cultural organization and teams across multiple time zones Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority Strong work ethic Energetic and enthusiastic approach Ability to travel to customer and non-customer sites in Asia and Australia is required.
