We are reliable and cost effective, working hard to achieve successful outcomes for our clients by working with them in ways that create and deliver value.Golding has a fixed term (maternity leave cover) role for a qualified lawyer to perform the role of Legal Counsel for our Brisbane office located in Milton. In this role your main focus will be reviewing Golding’s client and subcontractors and assisting our operational staff with claims, disputes and critical correspondence. There will also be future scope to contribute to general legal risk management and corporate law issues within Golding. Ideally you will have developed a broad range of skills and experiences within a law firm or a construction or mining company which will enable you to efficiently and effectively deal with a variety of legal matters.The role will suit a candidate interested in working 3, 4 or 5 days a week. The role will require an incumbent for a minimum six-month contract, however on-going work could be available for the right candidate. Flexible working hours are available along with the ability to work from home. The date of commencement is flexible but ideally will be early January.Key role tasks: Provide timely contract review and advice on conditions of tender and contractual termsProvide advice on the management of Golding’s legal risks, obligations, rights and liabilities as it relates to individual contracts, claims or commercial negotiationsProvide legal advice on matters across Golding’s business where required including prevention, management and resolution of legal disputesNegotiating, drafting and providing advice in relation to Golding’s commercial arrangements.Contribute to maintaining template contracts for operational use by GoldingLiaise with Golding’s insurance providers and brokers on insurance and liability issues to ensure the most satisfactory outcome achievableWhere required liaise with external legal service providers to obtain legal opinions, handle claims and seek expert opinion on matters relevant to GoldingManage your legal files in an efficient manner that facilitates internal access and communication Key capability requirements: You will be a qualified lawyer with eligibility to obtain, or possession of, a current unrestricted practising certificate and preferably have at least 4 years post-admission experienceFront-end experience in Mining or Construction is essentialExperience handling claims and providing advice in this space is highly desirableStrong ability to communicate effectively to both internal and external lawyers and your internal clients within GoldingStrong drafting skillsCapability to work both autonomously and as part of a small teamSound Microsoft office skillsThis role may require some travel to our project sites.
