About the role Join our team at Nyrstar Hobart as a Structural Project Engineer and take on a crucial role in our ongoing asset integrity program. Your responsibilities will include developing remediation plans, identifying improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with structural standards and regulatory requirements. You'll assess the condition of existing and new structures, explore opportunities for technical advancements, and support site drafting. As a Structural Project Engineer, you'll play a key role in managing and supervising contractors and employees across all project stages, from concept to implementation. You will be responsible for: Developing comprehensive remediation plans and identifying improvement initiatives to ensure the integrity of our fixed plant structures. Managing and upholding structural standards while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies. Assessing the structural condition of existing and new structures within the smelter, evaluating construction integrity and material usage. Identifying opportunities for technical improvements and the implementation of new technology to enhance capital projects. Supporting site drafting by maintaining drawing standards and specifications. Reviewing and approving structural engineering requests to facilitate our Management of Change process. Providing technical advice for incident investigations and contributing to budget and capital planning. About you To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: Tertiary qualification in Structural Engineering (bachelor level or higher) A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the mining or metals industry Strong communication and technical writing skills Strong structural design skills including knowledge of design software including Strand7 and Structural Toolkit. Ability to drive and implement change Able to achieve results in a demanding and challenging site Familiarity with SAP is advantageous, and prior project management experience is a plus. The facility uses the RLE process for zinc production. Hobart's key products are SHG zinc, die cast alloys and continuous galvanising grad (CGG) alloys. In addition, the site produces by-products of cadmium, copper sulphate, paragoethite, lead sulphate, leach concentrate and sulphuric acid.
