The Opportunity Changing circumstances and a fresh look at the Legal Team organisation have created a new opportunity for two experienced Legal Services Managers. These roles will report into the General Counsel and manage teams of high-performing corporate lawyers. You will have the opportunity to provide commercially relevant legal advice across the broadest range of legal matters to support project delivery and other general legal support to CPB. Negotiation and drafting will be restricted to key strategic issues and major projects, with the roles otherwise requiring management of workflow, extensive internal stakeholder management and supportive team leadership. These roles are critical in supporting the General Counsel. The roles may be located in any Eastern States capital city subject to negotiation. Your role will include but not be limited to the following: Provide advice (and managing advice provided by internal/external legal counsels) for CPB and its operations on relevant legal matters such as corporate law, contract law, contract administration, licence variations and government regulations pertinent to CPB business. Act as an escalation point for complex matters. Build, manage and strengthen relationships with the wider business. Manage CPB's legal risk by proactively identifying legal risks in contracts, operations and claims. Negotiate major contractual agreements/ commercial transactions to achieve the best possible terms for CPB. In collaboration with the General Counsel, identify and implement legal compliance programs for CPB in accordance with CIMIC requirements. Proactively research new or proposed legislation/ policy which may affect the company and ensure General Counsel and appropriate Seniors Leaders are informed Contribute to the setting the strategic direction for the function in line with the CPB strategy, with appropriate contributions from relevant functional staff Develop your team's skills and support their career growth into a high-performance team Our minimum requirements for this role are: To be successful in this role a candidate will have the following skills, experience and competencies: Bachelor of Law (LLB or equivalent) Qualified to practice as a solicitor in NSW or other Australian jurisdiction - holding (or entitled to hold) a current practising certificate Sound knowledge of current and emerging governance and regulatory issues affecting the construction industry A minimum of 12 years' post qualification experience, made up of a mix of experience in private practice and some in-house experience with a focus on the engineering and construction sector Proven team leadership experience Experience in corporate, commercial, employment law and disputes is highly regarded Relationship management skills across a broad range of stakeholders Ability to influence key project stakeholders and executive management Your future starts here CPB Contractors is an equal opportunity employer, committed to workplace diversity and to providing flexible work opportunities at our offices and projects.
