The Control and Instrumentation Software Engineer's role is focused on providing projects and tenders with design, development and implementation of control, monitoring and communication system (PLC, HMIs, SCADA and communication network) for Howden's fan and compressor products and projects. The successful candidate will Design, develop and implement the system solutions in accordance with client's specifications, statutory requirements and Howden quality standards, as well as supporting the tendering of mine turnkey proposals by interpreting client's specifications and assisting in scope definition and costing. What needs to be done? Projects - Carry out assigned control, monitoring and communication system design, development and commissioning work in compliance with Howden's offered technical solution, appropriate standards and regulations, budget, schedule, project scope and client's specification. - Liaise and co-ordinate, as appropriate, with other disciplines involved on the project (internal and external) to exchange related technical, budget and schedule details - Procure relevant project related equipment and services, carry out inspections and ensure compliance with specifications - Plan, coordinate and review the system design, development and implementation phases. - Maintain quality levels throughout the work. - Maintain project files up-to date with relevant information including related quality control and inspection documentation Design, drafting & engineering - Carry out control, monitoring and communication system design and maintain control over the design solutions carried out by external service providers and suppliers. - Develop Control System Architecture, IO lists, Cause and Effect diagrams, control philosophies, functional descriptions, logic diagrams, software and communication network, FAT and SAT documentation - Develop PLC program logic, SCADA (or HMI) mimics and equipment communication network - Perform PLC, SCADA (or HMI) and communication network system FAT and SAT - Ensure that system design takes into consideration all interfaces with other disciplines - mechanical, process and civil - Ensure design solution compliance with project's technical offer, client's specification, relevant standards and regulations, budget and project schedule. - Ensure that scope changes are identified, submitted to client and approved. - Perform commissioning tasks.
