The College is seeking a dynamic, innovative and collaborative English teacher to join our English faculty and College. The ability to teach drama is desirable but not essential. Key Selection Criteria: A working understanding of, and overt commitment to the ethos of a Catholic School in the tradition of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Secondary English teaching qualifications. Ability to to be involved in Debating/Public Speaking would be an advantage. Demonstrated experience teaching English to secondary school students. Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to design inquiry based learning experiences where students exercise choice to demonstrate knowledge and understanding. Enhance social skills and nurture the growth of enterprise skills including critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration for each student. Use digital technology as an enabler and accelerator for student and teacher learning. Ability to use diagnostic data, summative data and formative data, including observations, annotations and work samples, to inform ‘next steps’ for students. Demonstrated deep understanding of curriculum and pedagogy and how these underpin successful engagement and learning. Regularly provide students with feedback as part of the teaching and learning cycle. Be open to growth and development through professional learning experience which includes classroom observations. Willingness to be involved in extra-curricular aspects of the College.
