The position As a Junior Legal and Compliance Graduate/Counsel, you will be in charge of providing legal advice, support, and counselling to the business on a broad spectrum of judicious and practical projects within a highly regulated environment. This role will report to the Director of Legal, Compliance, and Quality Oceania. Your duties will include, but will not be limited to: Provide solutions focussed and pragmatic legal advice on a range of legal issues including contract interpretation, and compliance with law and regulations. Provide practical, solution-oriented legal assistance to Novo Nordisk's internal clients during contract preparation and negotiation. Draft, negotiate, and manage a high volume and wide variety of contracts, including but not limited to, services, supply, speaker, and advisory board agreements. Also, reviewing and approval of promotional and advertising material in line with pharmaceutical laws and regulations including the Medicines Australia Code of Conduct. Providing counsel on all compliance matters related to Business Ethics Code of Conduct - including Third Party Risk Assessment (Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Anti-Tax Avoidance, Sanctions, Modern Slavery), Gifts & Entertainment, HCP (Healthcare Professionals) transfer of value reporting and Contract Management Assist in the development of legal templates, training materials, and relevant portions of the legal department's intranet site for the purpose of training and upskilling internal clients. Correlating quarterly and yearly sanctions screening and Business Ethics Code of Conduct attestation activities across the affiliate. Engage and liaise with compliance and internal audit teams and to all levels of the affiliate on updates and related matters to the business, regulatory compliance developments, policies, standards, procedures, initiatives, risks, KPIs, etc. Ensure business policies and standards are maintained, updated, visible and accessible to all employees. Perform periodic testing and monitoring of regulatory compliance controls (adherence to policies and regulations) and recommend effective improvements. Qualifications A law degree from a reputable Australian university Final year law students/graduates will be considered. Less than 2 years of experience, preferably from a mix of law firm and in-house environments gained from within pharmaceutical, biotechnology or devices industries. Excellent drafting, communication, detailed and problem-solving skills, and has the ability to handle confidential and correctness information using discretion and judgment. Interest in pharmaceutical and other relevant laws and regulations, including Anti-Bribery and Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism, Anti-Agressive Behaviour, Modern Slavery, and ability to interpret and apply such laws and regulations.
