Excellent employer. ­ THE COMPANY Our client is a highly regarded multi-disciplinary building services consultancy, with a track record of premium engineering design services dating back 20 years. They are known for challenging, complex design; delivered to an exceedingly high standard, and more recently for developing young engineers into industry leaders. When we met with the leadership team this week, we were warmly welcomed into the office and immediately invited to take a few swings on the not-so subtle putting green that is neatly tucked away behind the reception. Across an expansive quarter-floor office there is also a ping pong table, a large kitchen and dining area fully kitted out with coffee machine and free fruit, and a very well-appointed suite of workspaces and offices where the social nature of this team was clearly visible. On top of this, the office is situated on the upper floors, with excellent CBD views. Suffice it to say, this was a very enjoyable meeting. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are seeking experienced Fire Protection Engineer with the ability to work autonomously, who is willing to learn and challenge themselves, and who has the confidence to take accountability for their work. Ideally, we would like to hear from engineers with 4 years of experience or more; specifically, within fire protection engineering for building services consultancies. We will not consider candidates without fire protection and building services consulting experience. MAIN DUTIES; Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies performance standards and specifications Interact with customers and other project stakeholders, to interpret their needs and requirements Act as a mentor to junior staff members Conduct interdisciplinary checks and raise potential risks Cooperate and communicate effectively with discipline team leaders and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support Supervision of, and guidance to, drafting and design resource as appropriate for multi-disciplinary projects Assist in the development of client quality assurance procedures and practices Ability to work with on greenfield site designs. [Be involved with initial concept design of Fire systems] Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings. [When working on Brownfield site/renovations] Ability to adapt to changing work requirements Ability to read plans and produce detailed quality work Excellent communication skills The ability to build clear and open communication with clients, management, supervisors, and team members KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Complete projects on time as requested by your directors Maintaining cordial relationships with architects, clients, project managers and builders/contractors Providing assistance to other design staff in the office Establishing design briefs for projects that you are working on Developing your knowledge and understanding of Australian standards and building regulations, local industry practices and authority requirements and procedures Carrying out engineering design functions including calculations, reports, and submissions to authorities Develop financially viable optimum engineering solutions to clients Developing an understanding of all building services Improve/enhance company’s knowledge base Decision making ability and leadership skills To be considered for the role you will require: Degree qualified – BEng Mechanical Engineering or similar CPEng would be advantageous but not necessary 4 years' experience in the design of fire services / fire protection and building services Professional confidence and accountability Ability to read and understand engineering drawings Exceptional communication skills High level of attention to detail Willingness to travel once a month to regional VIC Full Australian working rights The options are endless with Collar If you are interested and you meet the above requirements, please apply today We will reach out to discuss your interest further.
