About the role Funds in Court (FIC) is a self-funded division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, managing funds paid into Court, primarily for people under a legal disability. All funds are held, invested and administered by the Associate Judge of the Court who is the Senior Master. FIC provides support and services for over 7,000 persons under ‘legal disability' (beneficiaries). The Legal Services Section provides advice and support services to the Senior Master, the Judicial Registrar and Office staff concerning the administration of funds for persons under disability. The Legal Administrative Officer is responsible for providing administrative support to the Legal Services Area of the Funds in Court Office. This role is part of the Legal Administration Team reporting to the Legal Services Manager while taking day to day instruction and delegation of work from the Legal Services Administration Team Leader. Key Responsibilities: Liaise with the public and Court users (including practitioners) in a customer service role, answering and directing various inquiries regarding the nature and functions of the Office. When required, provide “back up” telephone and client reception duties for the Office Effectively deal with a range of clients displaying challenging behaviours (in particular persons with acquired brain injury) or presenting with very sensitive issues (in particular young persons who have been victims of crime, including sexual assault). Prepare documents for payments out of Court to persons who have reached the age of majority, in accordance with Court orders and legislation, including drafting Court orders and statutory declarations. Receipt payments of funds into Court and oversee the Payment In process in accordance with relevant orders, rules or legislation. Create new files, maintain, and update all associated computerised and manual records systems. About you: Client management experience in the trustee or related industry would be highly regarded. Commitment to the interest of people with a disability and willingness to operate in a manner that is consistent with FIC's code of conduct, inspiring trust by treating all individuals fairly. Ability to work within a team environment and support other FIC staff in the pursuit of optimal outcomes for beneficiaries. High level organisational skills - ability to prioritise work requirements.
