This role will be 30 hours per week across 4 days. We will also consider applications for full time, which will be 37.5 hours across 5 days. Job Overview You will provide assistance to the Newcastle Senior HR Business Partner (SHRBP), who is based in London, and the Senior Management team who are based in Newcastle, to ensure an effective service is delivered to the business. Who you will work with You will work with the SHRBP to provide ongoing HR assistance to the Newcastle office encompassing, Business Professional Directors and Managers, and employees for these groups. What you will be responsible for You will cover a range of HR activities including advisory and reporting, and you will assist on many of the HR processes, be it recruitment, reward, employee relations, development, diversity and inclusion, as well as ad hoc projects. What you will do Regular Reports: Work with the SHRBP to finalise HR reports to ensure that staff movements and changes have been captured accurately. Secondments: Work closely with the Senior Operations Managers, the Global Mobility team and the SHRBP to ensure client secondments are advertised, that the most appropriate Paralegal is selected and that the secondment terms are in place. Recruitment: Work with the Talent Acquisition team and managers to draft job descriptions for new vacancies. Work with the Director of the Newcastle office, Senior Operations Manager and SHRBP to draft recruitment authorisation forms and assist the SHRBP with the approval process. Alongside the Talent Acquisition team attend the local Newcastle induction to welcome all new joiners to the office. Exit Interviews: Conduct exit interviews for all Clifford Chance Newcastle (CCNL) leavers. Monitor feedback and report to the SHRBP and CCNL Management team on trends and make recommendations where necessary. Family Leave: Meet with all employees prior to their family leave. Provide advice and guidance on policy and process as required. Assist with any flexible working requests from CCNL employees and facilitate the process where required. Budget Headcount: Assist the CCNL Director, Head of Operations and SHRBP with the budget headcount and in updating budget headcount every quarter and at financial year end. Salary/Bonus Review Process: Assist the SHRBP in the annual salary and bonus review process, as necessary. Work with London based HR colleagues to ensure best practice and appropriate processes are followed. This will require attendance at relevant London HR Team Meetings both virtually and in person. In conjunction with London based HR colleagues, ensure that data management and processes for CCNL employees adhere to HR Policy and best practice. Three Conversations Framework: Assist with the Three Conversation framework, ensuring completion of all three conversations and where appropriate uploaded on the on-line appraisal system. Diversity and Inclusion: Advertise events to raise awareness and attendance. Assist with the development and implementation of D&I action plans. Employee Relations, Performance and Sickness Absence Cases: Assist with and manage ER, performance issues, and sickness absence cases. Monitor absence, initiate OH referrals and assist the SHRBP to ensure any approved recommendations from the OH reports are carried out. Career Development and Training: In conjunction with our Academy, assist the Senior Management Team to develop and coordinate training and career development programmes for the CCNL office. Liaise with the internal Employee Relations team to determine appropriate workshops for those who have line management accountabilities. Projects: Assisting the SHRBP on ad-hoc projects as and when required. You will have the ability to deal with a variety of potentially sensitive issues and you will operate with a high level of confidentiality. You will have the ability to cope with a mixed workload with excellent attention to detail. You will demonstrate a proactive approach at all times in order to improve services. Experience It is essential that you will have gained relevant experience in a similar HR role, where you have dealt with aspects of the employee lifecycle, employee absence, performance, and other employee relations issues. Experience of running ER investigations and processes is essential. Knowledge You will have good knowledge of HR policy and best practice, and an interest in employment law (working knowledge of employment law is desirable). You must demonstrate a strong willingness to develop knowledge in all of these areas. You will have a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages. Qualifications Ideally, you will have a formal HR qualification e.g. CIPD or equivalent.
