About the role: Correctional Officers in Correctional Centres are usually classified as shift workers and can work any 5 days in a week including weekends and public holidays. Provide safety, security, welfare and rehabilitation of inmates/offenders. Conducting daily searches and musters. Locate and remove illegal and restricted substances whilst undertaking searches. Manage inmates of all classifications. Provide ongoing monitoring and security at all times. Undertake all custody related administrative duties. Maintain confidentiality The role offers: Casual rate of $34.02 per hr super, leave and shift loading Culturally diverse workplace with equal opportunity Access to staff benefits Supportive team environment 10 week fully paid training program Certificate III in Correctional Practice in the following 12 months Requirements of the role: Minimum age of 18 years old Current driver s license Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident Willing and able to work irregular shift patterns/hours of work (shifts up to 8 hours, 7 days a week). Be available to work at short notice (calls for casual work are after 5pm for work on the following day).
