The Role This is a Part-time role for a student engineer supporting the Electronics Engineering team, who can contribute to Leica project teams to ensure successful project outcomes for our products. Your key responsibilities will include (with support from experienced professional engineers), and not limited to: - Involve in electronics engineering activities including but not limited to Research & Development, Production Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Verification & Validation - Applying engineering methods and manufacturing process requirements to design electronics parts and assemblies - Analysing production processes and developing solutions to improve productivity or yield - Root cause analysis and solving technical problems with instruments in production or in the field - Working with other departments to design and improve new and existing products - Applying Leica quality process to implement changes and improvements to existing products - Liaising with workshop technicians and suppliers to produce prototype components and assemblies - Functional testing of products including design, construction, programming and instrumentation of test rigs - Sourcing and selection of suppliers of OEM components and products - Working with supplier quality engineers to improve supplier performance - Verifying product performance - Generating technical documents including design descriptions, test plans and reports - Identify and pursue opportunities for development Reporting Structure - LBS employs a matrix organisation structure whereby the associate has two supervisors; the Program/Project manager and the line manager which in this role is the Electronics Engineering Manager. To be successful in this opportunity, meeting the following criteria would be preferrable. - Students who are currently studying in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent - Familiarity in electronics and their interactions with mechanical systems and software - Able to follow instruction for use of inspection and measurement tools (e.g. micrometers, verniers, multimeters, etc.) - Interest in electronics, firmware, sensors, motors, robotics, process improvement - Competent with MS Office products - Attention to detail - Positive, self-motivated disposition and personal accountability - Excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills - Work safely, complying with all safety procedures, rules and instructions - Desire to improve lives Highly Desirable: - Familiarity with Altium - Familiarity with CAD tools (NX, Solidworks) - Experience in manufacturing methods - Experience working within a quality system To Apply: You must be an Australian citizen / holder of a Permanent Residency visa/ have work rights to be eligible to apply for this position.
