Mackay Regional Council (MRC) does not run your standard Civil Construction Traineeship. At MRC we prefer to shake things up by exposing you to various parts of the business. There’s no time to lean on a shovel here, as you’ll be exposed to a great variety of work with our Field Services and Civil Ops crews. With Field Services you’ll be exposed to minor concreting works such as footpaths through to a wide array of stormwater drainage works of various sizes – think pipes, culverts, headwalls and pits. Boredom won’t be an issue as they’ll train you in everything from general earthworks through to full pavement reconstructions. Civil Ops will keep you hopping with gravel road maintenance and repairs, roadside signage, line-marking, bus shelter repairs and timber bridge repairs. Timeframe This is a 12-month traineeship. What you will need to succeed: "Interested in working outdoors and completing construction activities like concreting, earthworks, pipe-laying and plant operation. "Strong work ethic and pride in their work. "Good verbal communication skills. "You're a team player, with the ability to learn from, and grow positive relationships with others. "Successful completion of Year 10 is desirable, but not required. Benefits: "Get paid while studying for a formal qualification.
