Design Manager 4 Sep 2023 Perth, WA, AU, 6005 About the role: The Design Manager supports a range of project development activities from the study to execution phase, including the handover to operations. The successful applicant will guide and deliver technical design expertise in mine development, process plants and facilities as well as NPI. Within the NPI scopes you'll provide support to product logistics, port, rail, aerodromes, villages, water and power. The role supports the Engineering Manager and the projects team in ensuring SMP / electrical and civil engineering deliverables meet quality requirements, are aligned with agreed expectations / scope / criteria, meet regulatory requirements. Main responsibilities of the role include: Provide multi-discipline technical engineering lead/management function for projects, including project due diligence and studies, execution, commissioning and operational handover phases. Guide package managers and project engineers in the development and management of project packages from scoping, engineering & design to operational handover Assist with development of project costs, including vendor queries for equipment, and assistance in developing CAPEX and OPEX estimates, plus managing expenditure budget trends. Assist in managing pit to port engineering and design work, including both green fields and brown fields infrastructure for delivery of projects (studies and execution) Support the Engineering Manager in developing and maintaining engineering processes. Provide day to day support for engineering consultants, construction contractors and vendors, as well as internal departments. Undertake technical compliance checks of engineering deliverables. Manage engineering standards, and specifications to ensure compliance of designs. Lead/participate in design reviews, trade-off/options analysis, Safety-in-design and HAZID/ HAZOP/CHAZOP processes, risk assessments, change management, constructability / operability / maintainability reviews etc to ensure optimised fit-for-purpose solutions for Hanroy. Provide technical engineering support, report writing/reviews, design scopes/reviews, plus peer reviews as required to the projects team and other internal departments. Provide progress reports and advice on issues arising to Engineering Manager and project team. To be successful in this role, you will have: Bachelor's degree in engineering, 6 years in mechanical, electrical or process discipline background. Project management related qualifications desirable Experience with SMP Previous experience working with an EPC, or owner operator is highly desirable.
