About the role We are looking for a Social Worker who is seeking an excellent work life balance in the beautiful coastal town of Warrnambool. The Social Work and Counselling team provides Social Work Service to a diverse range of individuals across a number of inpatient and outpatient settings. This role is a dedicated perinatal Social Worker working as part of the multi-disciplinary team at The Women's Health and Maternity Services. This is a permanent full-time position, with part-time applications considered. Social Work embraces a view of women's health that is holistic and considers women's social, physical, emotional and cultural wellbeing. The Perinatal Social Work position aims to improve the psychosocial health and well-being of women and their infants. The provision of clinical Social Work services during the perinatal period will include provision of information, counselling, risk assessments and risk management as well as support and advocacy for women in response to health and complex social needs. The position will also provide liaison and consultation to various disciplines both inside and outside the hospital. This includes ensuring all relevant referrals and information is shared to ensure a continuity of care from pregnancy and post birth. Scope of Perinatal Social Work practice includes: Screening and Psychosocial Assessments - Early identification of antenatal psychosocial risk factors Assessments - psycho-social assessments, risk assessments around family violence and risk to infants upon birth Counselling, mediation and therapeutic interventions as required What you bring Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Experience in women's health including child protection and family violence Experience in the delivery of Social Work services in a mental health setting and a working knowledge of Recovery Oriented practices in relation to the role is desirable. Demonstrated clinical Social Work experience including psychosocial / risk assessments and case management Demonstrated knowledge of current Social Work theories and practice skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrate ability to work in partnership across different organisations within Health and the community sector Proven ability to work within a team based multi-disciplinary model. A working knowledge of trauma informed care in relation to the role. Ability to work with limited direction, be self-motivated, and provide effective problem-solving, negotiation and change management skills. Demonstrated good judgement, work planning, decision-making abilities and organisational skills. An ability to provide initiative and innovation and to work in a changing environment with flexibility and problem solving skills.
