The Position St John of God Accord is a division of St John of God Health Care dedicated to providing support to people with intellectual disabilities. The overall aim is to enhance the quality of life for clients through development and provision of support options that are aligned to the personal ambition and need of each client. We are currently seeking committed and reliable Disability Support Workers to provide the highest level of support for our clients within the Eastern & Southern accommodation areas of Melbourne, Victoria. Working with us as a Disability Support Worker you will provide a range of services which will make a difference in supporting our valued clients in living life to its fullest. Applicants studying towards or have completed a CERT III in Community Care or Certificate IV in Disability are encouraged to apply. Positions will be offered on casual basis, working various shifts and rosters 7 days per week. The successful candidate will have: A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care. The right attitude to support people with a disability. Ability to liaise with families and circles of support, service providers and community groups as required in order to promote community understanding and awareness of people who have a disability. Willingness to work all shift types offered in the SSA setting including sleepovers. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Capable of working independently with a client or group of clients. Strong problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to exercise reasonable judgement. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software packages and databases. Current Victorian Roads or equivalent drivers licence. First Aid Level 2.
