Reporting to the MPD Operations Supervisor, the Control Systems Field Engineer, will take responsibility for supporting and servicing all products and clients for NOV's Managed Pressure Drilling business. within the Eastern Hemisphere. As Control Systems Field Engineer you will liaise with internal stakeholders manage your daily, weekly, and monthly schedule in an efficient manner to maintain strong customer relations with the support we offer. Key to this role will be your ability to drive continual improvement processes, enhancing efficiency and performance within our industrial markets and delivering technically competent installations, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance support to our clients. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The main roles, include, but are not limited to the following: Provide technical support for a MPD operations for all associated MPD tasks in the preparation, execution, and end of well maintenance. Write control software on Siemens PLCs. Build control networks using Profibus DP/PA, MODBUS, and TCP/IP. Familiarity with a feedback control loop and control fundamentals including single loop controllers, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) Use Windows Visual Studio to develop applications and HMIs used for controls and automation. Ability to read and understand hydraulic set ups and process flow diagrams Installation, deployment, and support of Windows Embedded PCs / Workstation Computing skills, Microsoft Dynamics. Actively participate in the knowledge management system within the segment keeping up with the continuous improvement culture Other duties as assigned include testing software, training field personnel, product documentation, and meeting with customers and operations personnel to review requirements SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED An exceptional ability to understand, evaluate and apply technical information Capable of keeping abreast of an evolving portfolio of products and services Delivers solutions and decisions that are effective and constructively impact both NOV and our customer's organisation Good understanding of Risk Assessment and Mitigation process Effective time management skills, able to apportion time effectively to complete tasks. Desirable: Specific Siemens training on PLC systems given by the OEM. Experience Essential: Electrical/Mechanical knowledge within installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance environments Experience in PLCs and motor control projects. Experience interfacing with analogue pressure sensors Basic knowledge of flow metering technologies. Basic knowledge of controls in explosive / potentially explosive environments. Interpretation of engineering drawings Ability to read electrical schematics Ability to use multi-meter / signal generators as needed to diagnose signal problems. Experience using Windows Visual Studio to develop applications and HMIs used for controls and automation. Use and troubleshoot human machine interfaces 3 years' experience in similar role and environment Desirable: Previous experience in drilling environment, preferably in MPD operations Skills, training or special knowledge Essential: Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook) Working knowledge of Customer Relationship Knowledge of industry standards Desirable: Lifting equipment, pressure testing, and pipework assembly Seimens Control Systems programming
